Hello all friends, avid readers, and scrollers,
For those of you who received a mound of snow this past weekend, you’d probably agree that today of all days, is the most ideal to sit and sip on a hot beverage from the warmth of the indoors.
That’s exactly what I’m doing as well, and wanted to sit down and write. I’m doing a lot of thinking. Specifically my goals for the new year. I always try to write down a list of a few things I really want to accomplish. It always seems though, that no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to get into the rhythm of sticking to goals. I also have a fear that if I neglect to set goals, I might never improve.
I think there is a lot of pressure put on being even better than the previous year, and doing more, and being bigger. It truly stresses me out because instead of celebrating life, I feel as though people get depressed because each year passes, and they feel they haven’t accomplished anything. Perhaps if we set more serious and standard goals, we wouldn’t be so hard on ourselves for neglecting them.
I hope that this year, we all embrace 2018 with a kind and open heart. Don’t stress yourself out trying to reach the impossible. But don’t limit your dreams either. Allow yourself to create a life which pleases you before you set out to please others. If anything, use this list for some practical inspiration. (Disregard the 2017, because the goals still apply.)
Sit with this and see what works best for you. Creating a bunch of small reachable goals instead of a few major ones can make you feel more successful and more content within your life.
Until next time,
